Sri Lanka, also known as Ceylon, Pearl of Indian ocean & Gem Land is a beautiful, resourceful island which is rich in natural, cultural and historic values.

The island has been recognized as one of a biodiversity hot spots in Asia despite its size as a small island. In fact, it is one of 25 biodiversity hotspots in the world. Sri Lanka is enriched with a vast biodiversity and varied climate and house thousands of endemic and valuable species of all kinds.

The island is well known for gems, tea and spices and those export industries contribute to Srilankan economy even though the Tourism has taken the first place of main income generating industries in recent years.

Ceylon is the only Theravada Buddhist country in the world and also the only Sinhalese country. Sinhalese is the main language and the majority of the population are Sinhalese while there are also Tamil, Islam & other minor communities living in the country in peace. Sri Lanka has a written history of 2600 years old and most of those ancient runes are now considered world heritage cities.
