Hakgala Botanical Garden, Nuwara Eliya

Established in 1861, Hakgala Garden is the second largest garden in Sri Lanka. It is located at 5,400 feet above the sea level and has a cold climate of between 16 °C to 30 °C.

Hakgala Garden is a part of Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve with over 10,000 species of flora. It is a major tourist attraction in Sri Lanka especially during the Spring season between April to August.

It is located in a scenic location surrounded by misty hills. The cool climes and scenic beauty compel the visitors to visit the garden every season. This area reminded of home hence British governors created a town here few miles away from the garden and called it “Little England” now known as Nuwara Eliya which is a famous tourist attraction.
