The Phasmatodea (also known as Phasmida or Phasmatoptera) are an order of insects, whose members are variously known as stick insects in Europe and Australasia; stick-bugs, walking sticks or bug sticks in the United States and Canada; or as phasmids, ghost insects or leaf insects (generally the family Phylliidae). The group’s name is derived from the Ancient Greek φάσμα phasma, meaning an apparition or phantom, referring to the resemblance of many species to sticks or leaves.


Hakgala Botanical Garden, Nuwara Eliya

Established in 1861, Hakgala Garden is the second largest garden in Sri Lanka. It is located at 5,400 feet above the sea level and has a cold climate of between 16 °C to 30 °C. Greeny Visitor with Fake Eyes

Can you see how cute this worm is? yes a bunch of them attacked my Crape Jasmine plant by eating al the leaves. But still who can hate them? I heard these worms are called Tomato Worms. They are a type of caterpillars who will later turn into moths. Tomato worms, or commonly called as hornworms with the scientific name manduca quinquemaculata, are a type of caterpillars. It’s named due to its tail that similarly appears horn. They’re one of the largest caterpillars extending up to 4 inches long.
